Everything you need to know about the most popular diet plans

A calorie is a calorie. Eat too many calories and you gain weight. Eat less calories and you lose weight. Right? Um no, sorry folks. It's just not that simple. Your body is a very complicated instrument and calories are only one part of the equation.

Everywhere you look there are new and better methods of losing weight. The American Dietetic Association estimates that Americans spend over $33,000,000,000 (that's billion!!!) dollars each year on diet foods, diet programs, diet services and weight loss systems. That's a lot of calories folks, and not just of the South Beach variety!

In this site I examine very closely all of today's popular diets. I'll give you the skinny on how each diet works. Just click on the Diet Reviews link in the bar on the left side of page to get a complete list of all the diets we have looked at. There's over 100 diets reviewed so far.

Once you start looking into it you will find that there are several recurring themes between the various weight loss programs. For example, there are many similarities between the South Beach diet and the Atkins diet, with the focus being on carbohydrate reduction. However with South Beach diet you must balance the "good" carbs against the "bad" carbs, whereas with the Atkins weight loss program all carbs are bad.

And then there are the helpers like the Phentermine diet pills. Diet pills can be effective if used carefully, but there are some important danger signs that you must be on the lookout for at all times. Just remember, your body is a very complex instrument.

Have you heard about the cabbage soup diet? This is an interesting one. Basically you eat cabbage soup with various sides like vegetables and a small amount of meat each day. The cabbage soup diet is effective for short term fast weight loss. They say it originally came from the Sacred Hearts Hospital to stimulate weight loss for surgery patients - but for whatever reason this cannot be verified. ....nuff-said

I also define the guidelines for each diet and the types of food used. I provide sample menus for each diet program and I address the issues of exercise and support that may or may not be part of the particular weight loss program.

There's a lot to learn on this subject, so please take you time and do your homework! Everybody's body is different. So don't be afraid to try different weight loss methods.

Good luck and be happy!
